Welcome to Idlewilde Event Center at Indian Springs State Park

Conveniently located near I-75 in middle Georgia, Indian Springs is one of the oldest state parks in the United States and a popular spot for outdoor recreation.

Idlewilde Event Center at Indian Springs State Park is available for reservations. The name is derived from the majestic house on the property that serves as the park office and visitor center; and is on the National Historic Register. With another nod to past, the individual rooms in the center are even named after the historic hotels that once thrived in the village of Indian Springs. Idlewilde has 20,000 square feet of event space including a massive lake side porch with beautiful views of the water. With a capacity of 500 people, Idlewilde can accommodate a variety of events, from birthday parties and family reunions, to weddings and corporate retreats. Additional features include a catering kitchen and audio visual capabilities in every room.

S.H.A.R.P. Program (Safe Harvest and Responsible Practices)

Are you a hunter with limited experience or success? The new “Safe Harvest and Responsible Practices” (S.H.A.R.P.) program at Charlie Elliott Wildlife Center provides new hunters with the basic knowledge and skills required to confidently pursue Georgia’s wild game on their own.

Programs are open to adults and youth (age 10 and older). Youth age 17 and under must have an adult registered to attend with them.

Each 1-day SHARP event will include an introduction and overview of a featured game animal along with approximately 5 hunting skills specific to that game. The day’s instruction will focus on skills other than shooting. Range time will not be included in these events. Each event will include:

  • Safety
  • Hunting regulations and rules
  • Game identification
  • Hunting techniques and tactics
  • Scouting
  • Hunting gear
  • Care and handling of harvested game

The cost of each course is $30 and includes lunch for participants.

Current course dates are listed below. Click on the registration link. If you don't have a current DNR customer account, you will need to create one for each participant including youth participants. This will provide you each with a unique DNR customer number and account.
