Welcome to Idlewilde Event Center at Indian Springs State Park
Conveniently located near I-75 in middle Georgia, Indian Springs is one of the oldest state parks in the United States and a popular spot for outdoor recreation.
Idlewilde Event Center at Indian Springs State Park is available for reservations. The name is derived from the majestic house on the property that serves as the park office and visitor center; and is on the National Historic Register. With another nod to past, the individual rooms in the center are even named after the historic hotels that once thrived in the village of Indian Springs. Idlewilde has 20,000 square feet of event space including a massive lake side porch with beautiful views of the water. With a capacity of 500 people, Idlewilde can accommodate a variety of events, from birthday parties and family reunions, to weddings and corporate retreats. Additional features include a catering kitchen and audio visual capabilities in every room.

Spring Place, Georgia, July 7, 2020 - The Chief Vann House has been the hot topic of conversation for many Spring Place citizens this June. Many readers have witnessed the archaeological crews doing excavation on Alt-52 near the God’s Acre Cemetery and the Vann House. It has long been known that James Vann, wealthy Cherokee plantation owner and merchant, built his 800-acre plantation more than 200 years ago and that his family welcomed the construction of the first school to Cherokee children, the Springplace Mission and School. However, there are extremely few maps and even fewer physical remains of this school and plantation to help us understand the people who first called Spring Place home.

Fort Yargo State Park has over 20 miles of mountain biking trails on their property. The inner loop, blazed and colored yellow on the map, is 6.5 miles and a great place for beginners to learn how to mountain bike. Even if riders take lots of breaks on the various benches scattered along the trail, it should not take longer than two hours to circle the entire lake.

It’s summer of 2016 at Tallulah Gorge, and the nature center is packed with people from all over the Southeast. There are 8 people in line at the gift shop, most of whom are waiting to get a bottle of water after hiking the 1,062 stairs back from the base of the gorge.
